Pinios River Basin

The Pinios River Basin (PRB) is in central Greece, and it is one of the most productive basins of Greece and the national WFD pilot basin, while it covers an area of approximately 11,000 km². PRB presents highly diversified geological, hydrological, and hydrogeological conditions. At the same time, the absence of rational water resources governance and management generally manifests in high-water consumption and groundwater over-abstraction for irrigation.
